Personal growth and self improvement means different things to people - what does it mean to you? For instance, do you want to improve your self confidence? Have a better outlook? EMPOWER YOURSELF Until you feel empowered to do something, you will not be able to accomplish it. First, you need to find the power within you to improve and grow. Overcoming negative or bad feelings about yourself, lack of confidence about what you can or can't do, what you can or cannot be, and just being able to love yourself can be very difficult. Many of your actions and negative self-talk come from deep within your subconscious, and your subconscious is not easily controlled. It is there to protect you, and it believes (right or wrong) that what you have experieinced from a very early age is "truth" and therefore it will do everything possible to "save" you from change/changing.
Often, when faced with change, you will have feelings of fear, doubt and even anxiety as your subconscious works to keep you away from this new (what it percieves to be dangerous) thought or action. So how do you overcome being uncomfortable or fearful of change? How do you gain the self confidence to know that change is good and and that you will succeed? How do you change your subconscious thoughts - thoughts that you are not even aware of - to accept change as good?
The answer: Identify areas that you do not feel empowered in (those that you are fearful of or feel powerless to change) and start to work on your self confidence and subconscious 'programming' in those areas.

Nevertheless, we often take in those words and actions from others say to us and think about us and internalize them, causing more damage than we even realize.
What others say to us, how they pay attention or the lack of attention, how others interact with us all helps create our "sense" of self worth. What you believe your self worth to be translates into the amount of self confidence and self esteem you have about yourself. Your self image is very important. If you have a low self image and lack of confidence about yourself, you see yourself as weak, unworthy, and even afraid, and nothing that you do while in this state of mind is going to work. You must feel good and deserving of what you are working on before you can internalize those good emotions and new behaviors. Therefore, you should explore this aspect as a top priority and make improvements whenever you identify an area or feeling about yourself that does not feel strong and good.
We mention here again, just how important and the huge role that your subconscious plays in your ability to change. You can want to change very much, but if your subconscious is holding onto negative thoughts and feeling about such change, you cannot succeed. It will hold you back and you may not even realize it. This is why so many people create 'self-sabotage' when they really want something. Even though they want to change, they produce actions that are contrary to what they really want. That is the subconscious mind working - whether you know it or not.
To be perfectly honest, until you have a sense of good self worth, are able to truly love yourself for who you are, and have self confidence, you are not likely to have much success in improving yourself.
